Last year, Artists Thrive had its public launch in Berea, KY where visual and performing arts, makers, innovators, creatives, and leading arts service practitioners contemplated a shared vision of what it takes to have a thriving arts sector. Within the culture and social justice rich context of Berea and nearby Appalachian towns, we explored and described how conditions might change in order for all artists and humanity to thrive. We hope you will join us for the 2nd Summit and become part of a growing cohort committed to adding and utilizing the Artists Thrive tools as part of our field-wide tool box supporting systems level changes.
This year’s gathering focuses on the “I am an Artist” Assessment Tool and ways that artists, organizations, city officials, community members, foundations and others can work together for artists and communities to thrive. We’ll have multiple interactive sessions, time for peer connections, plus deep learning from place as we spend time with culture bearers in three Appalachian communities (Berea, Harlan and Corbin).
